WOD times are now 4:30, 5:30 & 6:30 p.m. except Fridays there is only a 5:30 p.m. WOD

WOD

Deadlift 5-5-5-5-5-5-5 reps

(warmup appropriately and first set is 80% of 1rm)

If a s set of 5 is completed successfully move up in weight. If a set of 3-4 is completed stay at same weight for next set and still try for 5. If a set of 2 or less is completed move down in weight. When the bar is on the floor inbetween reps and while still holding onto the bar take a 2 second active rest still in deadlift posture and form.  Each rep is an individual pull (no bounce).

 

What About Abs? …[wmv][mov]

What kind of fitness program doesn’t do abs? The answer: A fitness program that is concerned with helping people to achieve functional fitness.What Coach Glassman meant when he made this statement is that CrossFit does not encourage exercises that work the abs in isolation from the rest of the body. Isolating your abs and working them without being conscious of how their development fits into the bigger picture of the way in which your body works together is shortsighted at best.CrossFit instead focuses on “midline stabilization.” The midline, Coach Glassman explains, is the “line that trisects the spine and bisects the pelvis.” He goes on to say that “Maintaining rigidity while engaged in functional movement is the essence of midline stabilization. This is the standing definition of core strength, of which abs and ab strength is but a portion.”  To read full article click here.

    Rebekah, Glad to see you have entered the world of commenting. Its the best when you are at work and killing sometime when your boss thinks you are hard at work you are actually reading CrossFIt articles. BE careful its addicting.

      I’ve traded my addiction to sugar to an addiction for checking the blog, reading CF articles, and watching CF youtube videos! :) I’m glad to see some additions to the blog (pictures and trainer info). I have a lot of time to waste at work.
